This qualification reflects the role of builders and senior managers who apply knowledge of structural principles, risk and financial management, and legal requirements to construction projects. It is intended for learners already holding the Certificate IV in Building and Construction or equivalent, structured to apply synergies between the Diploma and Certificate IV courses. This course provides a pathway to work as a builder in residential, commercial, and industrial sectors, supporting formal builder licensing accreditation and higher-level qualifications.
52 weeks (including public holidays, re-assessment and catch-up classes) – full-time study 20 contact hours per week timetabled over 3 days per week.
The program is classroom-based delivery face to face and in a simulated industry work environment with trainer led training in classrooms, workshops, and computer labs consisting of lectures, group discussions, workshops, and simulated or industry work environments. The student to trainer ratio is 1:20. Assessment consists of direct observation, product-based methods, portfolios, questioning and third-party evidence. To comply with the National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2018, no more than one-third of the units of competency should be delivered online to international students.
Australian International Institute of Technology has the following minimum entry requirements for CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building). All applicants must:
Be at least 18 years of age (at the time of enrolment);
Must have completed at least the equivalent of Year 12 (Australia);
Complete the Pre-Training Review (PTR) and Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LL&N) process;
Complete a Digital Literacy Diagnostic;
Meet minimum English Language Proficiency Requirements.

Graduates may seek employment as builders or senior managers in the building and construction sector, pursue formal builder licensing accreditation, or pathway to higher-level qualifications such as Advanced Diploma in Building and Construction.
Total number of units of competency – 27 (This qualification has 24 Core units and 3 Elective units). Units of competency have been selected in accordance with the packaging rules and are relevant to the work outcome, local industry requirements and the AQF qualification level.
